2010 LifeSmarts Massachusetts State Competitions

Wednesday, March 10, 2010

This was the Bank's 15th year of hosting the Massachusetts Varsity State Competition. The bank also hosted its third Junior Varsity competition. The 2010 Massachusetts LifeSmarts Varsity State Champion team is “Palmer Panthers” from Palmer High School and the second place winner was from North Reading High School. The Palmer team surpassed 16 other teams from the Massachusetts area.

This year, Massachusetts had over 800 students compete in the online component and a little over 700 who qualified to compete at the state level. The teams that competed came from Boston, Chicopee, Harvard, Lakeville, Medfield, Milton, Newburyport, North Reading, Palmer, Wakefield, and Worcester. The competition has grown immensely each year, and all teams have given tremendous efforts to make it a huge success.

At the Lifesmarts National Competition held in Miami Beach, FL, our State Champs placed 9th out of 38 competing states.

The Bank also hosted its 3rd annual Massachusetts LifeSmarts Junior Varsity State Competition. We had three middle schools participate; Saint Joan of Arc Middle School, the Bromfield Middle School and the Palmer Middle School. The junior varsity state champion was from the Palmer Middle School.
