Notes: This training workshop follows the format of the Teacher Handbook and Curriculum. In essence, the workshop is a simulation of how the teacher will present the Summit material and prepare his or her students for the Summit event over the semester. Like the Summit program itself, the teacher training workshop will be very interactive and will culminate in a Mini Summit, with the teachers taking on the role of “Economic Advisors” to their assigned countries, just as their own students will do in coming weeks.
The primary purpose of Lesson 1 is to generate excitement about the Summit program and to create in your students a vision and understanding of how important it is for them to prepare to live and work in our rapidly changing world.
Teachers will receive their Teacher Handbooks at the beginning of this lesson.

Notes: In this lesson, the teachers will complete a scaled down version of the Country Fact Sheet assignment for their assigned country and learn how it is submitted via the Summit Website. They will also engage in, or at least be introduced to, the Chain Game activity, which many teachers describe as an extremely useful and fun way to teach standard of living, productivity and economic improvement. They will record their score for having completed the Fact Sheet Assignment.

Notes: The culminating portion of the Summit Teacher’s training will be the Teachers’ Mini Summit. The teachers will already be divided into teams of two and will have prepared for the Mini Summit by working on preparing assignments for the country during the previous two days.
The Mini Summit will follow the same general format as a student event.

• This lesson includes complete instructions, documents & forms for conducting a “full-blown” classroom Mini Summit.

procedures, documents and forms provided in this lesson in our own Mini Summit Simulation.
Notes: The teachers will engage in the final Mini Summit, which will include:

The workshop will end with a question – answer session to clarify any remaining questions about the Summit program. Next steps will be clearly outlined.
