Federal Reserve Bank of Boston President Eric Rosengren began a day-long tour of Fitchburg, Lowell, and Haverhill, Mass. with a meeting at Fitchburg State University. There, he met with Fitchburg community leaders--including Fitchburg Mayor Stephen DiNatale, Fitchburg State University President Richard Lapidus, Vice President at Montachusett Opportunity Council and ReImagine North of Main leader Tricia Pistone, Matt Fournier of Elite Construction, and Marc Dohan of New Vue Communities--who are focused on bringing significant change to the downtown and surrounding neighborhoods. Mount Washington Alliance Project Coordinator Abigail Perez provides an overview of the Haverhill, Mass. Working Cities Challenge team's resident engagement initiative known as the "Quality of Life" campaign. According to the team, it brings together community members through weekly events whereby neighbors can “come out of their comfort zones and get to know one another,” talk about happenings in the neighborhood, and discuss strategies for improvement. The group discussed their resident outreach effort, known as the "Q Campaign," which is designed to learn about challenges in the neighborhood.
